IMPRISONMENT #2 A lot of things have happened in the past week in the Burg. By now you’ve had plenty of time to get to know your fellow villagers. Already there have been disagreements and conflicts. As time goes on and Exiles come and go, your friendships and suspicions will be tested and examined in even more ways.
As more and more people are confirmed as Citizens after their elimination you will get more evidence as to who may be a Spy. It is recommended you look back through conversations you had with eliminated players. Now that you know they were searching for the same Spies you are, you might find their insights and opinions helpful. Perhaps they will have cogent advice for you from beyond the grave.
Today’s Imprisonment will be a little different than the last. Players will be randomly selected to take part in the story. Only those who take part in the story are vulnerable; everyone else is safe. Imprisonments will be posted in separate parts throughout a half hour, beginning at the specified time. I am literally going to www.random.org to pick who is selected to star in this story, of course with the exception that the person selected for Imprisonment will automatically be selected. There’s now music at the very top of this forum; click on the arrow for it to play.
Let the story begin. VULNERABLE:

Reicheru really should have been sleeping. It was midnight. She lay tossing and turning in her bed, unable to fall asleep. Her restlessness stemmed from the increasing panic in the Burg. The whispers had been increasing lately after the recent failed Exile of Jakub. Rumors were starting that someone in the village was behind his false outcast. Reicheru couldn’t imagine who that would be. Everyone seemed friendly and approachable. She never had been the type of person who was good at reading people. The true intentions that lie behind their cheerful facades might as well have been hidden on the other side of the world rather than on the other side of their faces. For all she knew, they were all traitors and this was one sick joke.
Reicheru pulled off the covers and got out of bed. She felt an intense awareness of the space around her, the objects in the room, and the passing of time. She walked in front of the mirror to examine her body and her face. Before this was all over, she thought, she was sure she’d have a few wrinkles on her face.
She went outside to get some fresh air when she saw Tenchi smoking on the other side of the street. Waving, she went to go over to see him, eager for some company in the lonely night.
“Couldn’t sleep?”
“I’ve been having trouble getting back on a normal schedule,” Tenchi explained. “I used to work a night shift back before all this shit happened and I can’t seem to adjust back to sleeping at night.”
Reicheru and Tenchi chatted about his former job and the jobs of their loved ones. Eventually they went inside to escape the cool air, but remained standing by the door as they didn’t plan on talking long. During a pause in the conversation, Tenchi heard the soft scuffle of footsteps outside. He went to the window and saw a dark, shadowy figure walk through the alley on the other side of the street.

Reicheru would wonder “What’s happening?” once more as she found herself and Tenchi following the mystery person through the city. Thank goodness she hadn’t been wearing heels, she thought, or they never would have remained hidden. It was hard enough as is for her to keep up with Tenchi without making a sound. Reicheru and Tenchi continued to follow the figure as he walked towards the skyscrapers in the center of town.
Reicheru may not have been wearing heels, but her forceful, ungainly stomps were enough to wake Shane from his slumber as Reicheru marched past his house at twenty minutes past midnight. Fearing danger, Shane instantly became alert and jumped out of bed, scanning the windows for an intruder. For all he knew this was his last precious moments of freedom before being kidnapped by the Enemy. He grabbed a shovel he had laying by his bed and ran to the door, heart beating quickly.
From this new vantage point he could see Reicheru’s white dress as she walked by in the middle of the night. Shane had the same questions that Tenchi had – why was somebody travelling somewhere quickly in the middle of the night? He laced up his shoes, put on a jacket, and left his home. He decided to bring the shovel with him.
But it was dangerous to go out in the middle of the night alone, Shane thought, so he decided to quickly knock on the door of two friends. They would come with him and find out what was up. He began to knock on Leena and someone else’s door as Reicheru and Tenchi continued following the man in black. VULNERABLE:

“It’s about fucking time,” the man in black whispered to himself. He had “stealthily” crept by Tenchi’s house four times before they started to follow him! He was beginning to think the trap was hopeless. The plan at first was just to sneak into the target’s house and grab them in their sleep but upon arriving in the Burg he found that was impossible. Too many people were awake at this late hour. Not many people had been sleeping soundly since the tumultuous events of the last week.
The new plan had been to lead them to an abandoned building near the old electric plant. Unfortunately, the trail leading to that building was far too open. It would have been too obvious a trap, anyone could have seen somebody following them when the building was in the middle of a lighted field. Even these idiots wouldn’t believe that he was that dumb! So as he turned corner after corner, walking down block after block, he radioed in a new plan to his superiors. A riskier plan, a more dramatic plan, but the only one that would work at the moment. He had to get this done. Headquarters would not be pleased if this mission was a failure. VULNERABLE:

Carrie had been hoping something exciting was going to happen soon. A woman of adventure, she eagerly agreed to follow Shane and Leena when they knocked on her door in the middle of the night, blabbering about some suspicious figures or some such. Carrie didn’t really need a reason to head out on a manhunt, she had been feeling restless the past week and was happy to act.
Carrie, Shane, and Leena followed the two mysterious figures ahead of them. They followed them through alleyways, across streets, and along sidewalks. They were being led into a developed part of the city. Leena had been looking down at the ground as she walked so when she looked up and found herself at the foot of two gigantic twin skyscrapers, she was floored. In front of her eyes rose two 70-story skyscrapers side by side. Connecting the two was the magnificent, famous Sky Bridge – an outdoor bridge connecting the two skyscrapers hovering 40 stories in the air. The open-air bridge shone out from the sky.
The Sky Bridge wasn’t just for transportation between the two towers. Built on the ceilingless, open-air bridge, hovering hundreds of feet in the air, was the beautiful Sky Garden. This luscious garden in the sky was filled with grasses, trees, plants, and beautiful flowers of every color. It almost felt like you were on a resort. It was its own little serene paradise, looking out onto the ground below.
Shane was remembering his memory of a field trip to the Sky Garden as a child as he climbed the stairs of the left skyscraper. Many kids in his class were frightened of the heights and the unobstructed view of the city. Many had been huddled in the center of the platform, fearful that the wind might blow them away and off the side of the bridge. They needn’t have been worried, Shane remembered thinking. If only they had gotten past their fears and actually explored the edge of the platform, they would have seen the thick netting that hung just below the entire thing. Nobody was flying away as long as the net still stood.
Shane’s memory was broken when he thought he heard the sound of someone climbing the flights of stairs above him. “Impossible,” he thought. “Reicheru and Tenchi took the stairs of the right skyscraper, we took the ones on the left to avoid being seen. There’s no one in this skyscraper at this time of night.” VULNERABLE:

Panting, Shane and company finally ascended their 40th flight of stairs and reached the entrance to the Sky Garden. Peeping out of the window, they saw Reicheru and Tenchi opening the door and eagerly heading out onto the Sky Bridge. Eager to confront them, Shane opened the door on his side and walked out onto the Bridge.
Tenchi was too engaged in staring at the mysterious hooded man in the center of the Sky Bridge to notice Shane walking his way. He stared at the man, trying to figure out what exactly it was he was doing with that key and why it was so important he had to do it at the middle of the night…
All of a sudden, a loud WHOOSH WHOOSH noise hit them. All of the villagers looked up to the left skyscraper, where they saw the blades of a helicopter begin to spin as it lifted off into the air. The helicopter took off but it didn’t fly away, instead it began to come towards the bridge.
Not wanting to let the masked man get away, all of the villagers on the bridge began running towards him, hoping to get to him before the helicopter landed. Running through flowers and kicking up dirt, Carrie was ahead of the others but still didn’t make it there before the helicopter landed.
The masked man jumped inside the helicopter. VULNERABLE:

But the helicopter didn’t take off.
Instead, five more masked men jumped out of the helicopter.
And began running straight towards one of the villagers.
Leena has been plucked from the Burg and captured by the Enemy.
You will never see her again. Leena, please post Final Words in your confessional immediately. Judge Sam: “Early imprisonments suck majorly. It’s terrible for people to be eliminated so early when so much of it is out of their control. What you did right or wrong is hard to judge, and why you were selected may remain a mystery for everyone for sometime to come. Thank you for putting your heart into the game. I found your insights and confessionals interesting and enjoyable to read. I would have loved to see how you would play this game as it got further into it, unfortunately I might not have that chance until Spies 4. This has got to be a disappointment for you because I know it would be for me, but I hope you continue to follow the game as it goes on. It’s too bad because your time of 54 minutes in the Challenge kicked ass. I’ll talk to you soon.”
It’s another sad loss for the Burg. Leena will never be around to help us out again. The only assistance we can get is from what she has already said. This is partially why I strongly encourage all Citizens to voice their opinions firmly and loudly and as often as you can. It is more than okay to disagree with another person about who you suspect as a Spy. No two people will have the same suspicion lineup. Listening to what others have to say is important, but if you never put your own two cents out there then you won’t be helping the Burg at all. Depending on who you tell, voicing your opinions may put you at a risk for Imprisonment (or it might save you if you tell Spies things they like to hear). But if everybody spoke their mind loud and clear they couldn’t Imprison everybody at once could they? In contrast, if nobody ever said what they thought then the Citizens would be doomed for sure. Last week was the most fractured vote I’ve ever seen in Spies history. It only took five votes to Exile and seven different people, half of the entire Burg, received votes. I wonder if that will be the same for this Exile, or if in the past few days people have come to a consensus on who they think might be a Spy. There’s only one way to find out. Exile #2 will take place live in chat on Monday at 8:00 PM CST. Votes are due before then. Every Citizen we Exile is another setback, let’s not put ourselves at any more of a disadvantage. Good luck.
